Strange Adventures is an annual festival of music, performance, and visual art aiming to support local youth artists and contributors to the DIY arts in the DMV. Starting in the summer of 2015, the festival is a mixture of indoor and outdoor space with two performance spaces as well as space for art displays, crafts, food, and just plain old hanging out.
Musical performance, while focused on local youth performers, is open to any musicians, solo artists, and bands. Music goes on throughout the entire festival staggered between an outdoor and an indoor stage to accomodate both loud full bands and smaller acoustic sets, as well as performances of spoken word poetry. Sets are typically around 30 minutes with headlining night time acts usually performing around 45 minute sets.
Every year we are looking to partner with various DIY arts groups and spaces, political activist groups, and public educators, speakers, and organizers to help make Strange Adventures not only a fun celebration of youth art, but a space for education and meaningful expression.
